Good news for the fans of Nook eReaders at UK: Barnes & Noble has decided to launch the device for the UK market as soon as this autumn.
According to the official announcement from the company, UK readers, other than having Nook eReader in their hands, will also have complete access to all the 2.5 million titles available from the online store of the company, starting from October this year.
The prices of the device for UK are yet to be confirmed, although the US version is available for $99 (£63) from the Nook website of US.
The lowest price for Amazon Kindle eReader, on the other hand, as shown by the official website of Amazon happens to be £89.
So in terms of price, Nook does have an edge over Amazon.
Besides, Amazon has still not released an eReader equipped with backlight, which once again gives Nook an edge over it.
Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight was launched by Barnes & Noble earlier this year and proved to be immensely successful among the users.
It was an upgraded eReader from the company equipped with LED lights which make reading possible under low light.
The Chief Executive Officer of Barnes & Noble, William J Lynch, said that the launch of Nook in UK was mainly aimed at “discerning and highly educated” consumers in the UK.
After Amazon, Nook eReader is the most popular eReader in the market at present.
The popularity of eReaders has immensely increased over the last couple of years, and Amazon recently announced that the eBooks from its bookstore are now outselling the printed versions of the books.
Various advantages of eReaders that compel people to go for them include easy mobility, anonymity and long battery timing compared to tablets and smart phones.
