Family Christian is one of the largest book store chains in the US, having around 300 stores throughout the country.
The store recently announced to launch its own version of Andorid based eReader, which would be named edifi, priced at $149.99.
The eReader is advertised as a family friendly device, giving the facility of safe search for internet browsing.
Although the device is, broadly speaking, a tablet, it is being billed as an eReader. Previously, the store also launched its own eReading app called FC Reader, allowing people to download books and religious content from their website.
Another noteworthy aspect of edify eReader is that it would come pre-loaded with YouVersion Bible app, which would offer Bible in 27 languages, other than offering four free eBooks.
Family Christian has said that the eReader was launched in response to high customer demand. Since the store offers a wide range of digital products, the management believes that it is quite logical that an eReading product should also be offered to the customers.
The device would allow the customers to make best use of the digital content being offered in the form of books, Bibles, music and movies.
The digital content of the store is quite popular among people and with the launch of a dedicated eReader would certainly further expand the scope of these products.
Amy Garrigan, the marketing and brand Vice President of Family Christian, said that “customers expect us to simplify the experience by helping them curate the search to the titles in which they have an interest.”
She further said that the customers also expect the store to offer safe environment for their kids to use the content. With the launch of a dedicated eReader, the store would make this possible for their worthy customers.
