Kobo has recently updated their iOS app incorporating support for various audio and video features of enhanced eBooks. With this update, video and audio support for selected Kobo titles would now be available.
This new update would allow indie authors to take advantage of their new Writing Life program which features enhanced eBook content.
Enhanced digital content includes a considerable number of eBooks for children and the new update also has a “Read Along” feature for enhanced children books. At present, there are about 150 enhanced eBooks available with the capability of audio reading which means that kids could listen to the content instead of reading it. Enhanced eBooks are becoming quite popular, particularly eBooks for kids, with the passage of time due to their multimedia facilities.
Other noteworthy features of this update include the facility of cookbook narration, comics’ narration and much more.
Besides, the app has also been improved, just scores of other apps, to take advantage of the new Retina Display resolution of the new iPad.
For this purpose, reading menus for iPad have been modified to a certain extent. Users would now have the facility of searching their eBooks with author, title and publisher name.
This feature is particularly important and useful for those who have a large number of books in their eBook library shelves and often have problem searching the required titles.
The matter of synchronization remains the same though. It so happens that you can still not buy eBooks using the “Read Along” feature present on the iOS app for Kobo.
To purchase eBook as well as other audio and video content, you would first need to buy it first form the website of Kobo and then synch the content with your iPad.
It would be great if Kobo could introduce a feature of automatic synchronization in near future, whereby the content you purchase would be automatically synched with your device.
