Self-Publishing on Kindle: An Increasing Trend

Amazon ImageThe domain of eBooks has expanded enormously in a very little time, and there are publishers who have been earning heaps of money with digital versions of their books. According to the figures released by Amazon, 16 of the top Kindle books in the month of March happened to be exclusively in the digital format and reserved for Kindle Owner’s Loaning Library.

This certainly gives an idea how popular eBooks have become, and this trend is expected to accelerate with the passage of time. Digital publishing has also given opportunities to new and aspiring writers and there are people who literally made their carrier as writers through digital publishing.

For example, Martin Crosbie’s book My Temporary Life earned $45,000 as paid sales and loans from Amazon Kindle Store.

In the presence of Amazon’s free publishing service, publishing your work for Kindle Store has become extremely easy.

Besides, the importance of marketing and efficient PR in today’s environment of tough competition cannot be emphasized. M.J Rose, who founded the famous book marketing website AuthorBuzz, a large number of traditional books get only about $2,000 for marketing while this amount can reach to as much as $150,000 in case of best sellers.

He said that although marketing is not something that can exclusively make a book bestseller, it nonetheless plays a very important role in the popularity of the book. But many of the new self-published writers also have to market their own books with their own resources, which is not a very easy job.

With the popularity of eBook reading and publishing, various educational institutes have also been arranging classes on eBook publishing. Amazon also provides publishing chances to the newly published writers in the form of free promotional days.

The most important thing in the process of marketing a book, or any product for that matter, is to target the potential customers. When it comes to such efficient marketing methods, the conventional and experienced publishers certainly have an edge, but the self-published authors have also been showing a lot of promise.

o far it seems that self-published authors have been doing pretty well with simultaneous writing and marketing which shows the bright future of self-publishing.
