Stephen King’s Crime Novel Joyland To Be Released In June 2013

Stephen King JoylandStephen King has been writing new novels quite consistently and with his latest novel, Joyland, he intends to go back to his horror thriller roots.

The novel would be published by a relatively new publisher Hard Case Crime that was established in.

According to the official information that has been given out about the novel, it is set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in early 70s. The story of the novel revolves around a young college student Devin Jones who arrives in that town to take up his job as a carny.

He, however, get entangled in horrible sequences described as “legacy of a vicious murder” and “fate of a dying child”.

In a press release about the novel, Stephen King said that “I love crime, I love mysteries, and I love ghosts,” which explains his novels surrounding around these themes.

He further said that the book would so far only be published in paperback and initially there are no plans of an eBook. So people who want to read this book would have to buy the physical book.

An eBook might come out after the paperback has hit the market.

According to Charles Ardai, the editor of Hard Case Crime, “Joyland is a breathtaking, beautiful, heartbreaking book.”

He further talked about the story that it is mainly about growing up and growing old and about people who don’t get to grow old since they have to face death earlier than others.

He seems to be quite optimistic about the novel and said that even the most hardboiled readers would find themselves at the verge of crying. After he finished reading the novel, he said, he sent a note to the writer saying ‘Goddamn it, Steve, you made me cry.’

The last two novels of Stephen King were a bit off in comparison to his previous work and a lot of people did not like them.

With this novel, however, King would be back to his real mastery of thriller and horror genre which is certainly very refreshing for many of his fans. The novel would be released in June 2013 along with another novel named Dr. Sleep.
