Superpad Tablet Computer Review

We don’t all have $500 to spend on the latest tablet PC releases to fulfill our eReading and online browsing needs.

Sometimes, there needs to be a budget tablet PC out there that can help us to do all of the things that we want to do at a good price.

That’s why it’s great news that the Superpad comes in at under $200 and is a great way to get in on the world of tablet computing without having to break the bank.

The question is, though – just because it’s cheap, does that mean it’s going to work the way you want it too and have all of the features you want it to?

What We Like about the Superpad

Price: In an age where we want everything and we want it for less, there’s no denying that some people will be swayed by the Superpad simply because of its price. To get a tablet PC that comes complete with an android operating system for such a low price is, quite simply, amazing.

Obviously, you’re not going to expect all the features of the iPad on such a cheap device, but even this budget tablet packs a real punch.

Design: When you hear the terms “budget” device, it usually means that it looks like a plastic lump that you would rather use as a door stop before you start browsing the internet on it. However, what we like about the Superpad is that, even as a budget device, it still manages to remain stylish. It has a decent screen and resolution – much better looking that other budget tablet PCs.

Camera: Again, you’re not going to expect the camera on the Superpad to replace your digital camera – the resolution on the images is obviously not going to be as good as a proper camera and lens – but it does the job quite well. When looking at tablet PCs, you’re lucky that there’s even a camera there at all. Even the first iPad didn’t even have a camera and it cost over $500 for just the basic model.

Android: Many will already have an Android smartphone and will have come to love the operating system. This intuitive tablet also comes with the Android operating system. It may be a surprise to learn that there’s even a tablet computer so cheap that still manages to come with Android and all of the Apps it offers. You can access the acclaimed Android app store and download all of those much-talked about apps.

2x Micro-SD Slots: Many of the most successful tablet PCs on the market don’t even have an SD card slot. This manages to irritate many buyers, especially since SD cards are the most popular form of flash memory. What’s great about many of the budget tablets, however, is that they don’t have this idea of trying to compete with the other big names, and not allowing basic features for the customers.

The Superpad has 2 micro-SD memory slots and this becomes very useful. It means that you can upgrade the 4GB of storage space innate in the device to up to 32GB extra. You can easily transfer music, movies and plenty of apps onto the device very easily.

Ports: Also unlike many other of the top selling Tablet PCs, not all of them offer the use of a USB cable. The Superpad has 2 USB 2.0 ports, a mini HDMI and a standard headphone jack. The fact that it allows the use of USB means that you can add an extra keyboard or a mass storage device. It also has an Ethernet port for those that want to use a wired connection (even though Wi-Fi is also included).

What We Don’t Like about the Superpad

Battery Life: One of the great things about tablet computers is that they’re portable. This means that you want to take your tablet around with you – whether to work or to school or while you are on vacation. It’s not great if you can’t take your tablet PC far without it running out of battery. Unfortunately, the Superpad only has 3 hours of battery life. While this is fine if you can charge it up in the car as you travel or you only want to use it at home, it’s not generally ideal for a tablet PC to only last 3 hours.

No Multi-Touch Screen: The multi-touch screen on other tablets means that you can touch two places on the screen at the same time. This is great if you want to zoom in on images or web pages. However, the Superpad doesn’t have this feature. You can’t complain too much though when we’re talking about a tablet that costs less than $200!

Storage Space: This tablet only comes with 4GB storage space. You’d expect less storage from a budget tablet, but you should also know that the Android operating system takes up about 2GB of space. This leaves you a measly 2GB left over. This is nothing in today’s terms! At least you can expand the storage with the micro-SD slots.

Operating System: While it’s great that the Superpad tablet comes with Android, the system that is used on the Superpad is actually a slightly older version of Android which means that some Apps (although few) won’t work with the Superpad.

Conclusion
Ideally, the Superpad is one of those tablets that you can purchase if you want the basic features from a Tablet PC but you don’t want to spend all that money on all the bells and whistles of other devices.

While you won’t get the power that you will get with more premium tablet PCs, you will still be able to use most of the apps in the App store and all of the eReading functions that you could want!
